Chapter 27 Starring: Jared Leto, Lindsay Lohan Review: Don't hammer this film for trying to get inside the head of Mark David Chapman before he shot John Lennon outside the rock legend's New York apartment on December 8th, 1980. Hammer it instead for failing to do so with any depth or insight. It's not that Jared Leto, who gained nearly seventy pounds to play Chapman, doesn't attack the role with all he's got. It's that J.P. Schaefer's film, with Lindsay Lohan as another Lennon fan, has nothing to say. Schaefer obsesses that Chapman met Lennon while carrying a copy of J.D. Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye, which ends at Chapter 26. Did Chapman think of the murder as his ending to Salinger's Holden Caulfield saga? Such conjecture prompts just one response: Thanks for nothing. Rating: 1.5 Stars Source: RollingStone.com
Chapter 27 ( Release: Mar. 28, 2008   Rated: R - for language and some sexual content   Avg. Score: 1/5     Details | Trailers | Photos | Reviews  ) The Gist — Not even the spectacle of a fat Jared Leto can save this mess. Source: Movies.com
Chapter 27 What went on in the mind of the man who felt compelled to assassinate John Lennon? Chapter 27 deftly pilots us into the dark psyche of Mark David Chapman the weekend before the December 8, 1980, shooting. Source: Rotten Tomatoes
Charlie Bartlett It tries to tackle too much at once and so were left with a fun, rebellious coming of age story which randomly mixes in things like suicide, and expects it to work. Instead, its kind of confusing. How the hell are we supposed to react when a hilarious teen party montage is followed by Robert Downey Jr. putting a gun to his head? Its like IFerris Buellers Day OffI by way of IThe Virgin SuicidesI, and believe me when I tell you the two absolutely do not mix. Source: Cinema Blend
Charlie Bartlett ( Release: Feb. 22, 2008   Rated: R - for language, drug content and brief nudity.   Avg. Score: 3.75/5     Details | Trailers | Photos | Reviews  ) The Gist — Vaguely subversive, but would have been more successful if it pushed the envelope even more. Source: Movies.com
Charlie Bartlett With engaging performances marked by an inconsistent tone, Charlie Bartlett is a mixed bag of clever teen angst comedy and muddled storytelling. Source: Rotten Tomatoes
Charlie Bartlett Much like its title character, Charlie Bartlett just doesn't fit in with its peer group (teen movies and psychology dramedies). And both the character and movie go to show you that sometimes it's good--in this case very good--not to fit in. Source: Hollywood.com
