Lynch
The exact origin is unknown, but it is similar to "linch" which
means execution by a self-constituted court that has no real legal
authority. May have referred to Judge Charles Lynch, who
a had a no-nonsense attitude and was known for his very harsh sentences. Another theory is that it comes from the town of Lynche's Creek, South Carolina, which was once the headquarters of vigilantes.
