Third World
Originally a French term (Tiers Monde), it was coined by G. Balandier
in 1956. The First World refers to the industrialized West (like the USA),
the Second World refers to the Communist nations of the Soviet Union and
Eastern Europe, and the Third World refers to all the other countries.
