Dumb

Where there's muck there's brass
There is money to be made even with dirty jobs. This term started in England where money was once called 'brass'. Brass is rarely if never used today to refer to money.

This is from a site visitor:
This originated during the Industrial Revolution of the 19th Century. For the first time most of the wealth was being made by men from northern England, men who formerly lived in modest surroundings. Not wanting to show off their wealth many of these people stayed where they were, which was confusing to those of ‘old money’ who took the first chance they could to show off success. It became a saying that just because a house was small or dirty, it didn’t mean its owners were poor. This phrase is still almost only heard now in the north of England.
