its called a crosswind landing for the simple reason being that the plane lands pointing in the direction of the wind which if not done will take the plane off track so to counteract this effect the above procedure is followed.

As long as person(s) or property, including the aircraft, were not damaged the landing is just fine. Give the guy in the left seat some credit some of those cross winds looked very difficult.
