| You are working in a dairy and have two pots to hold milk. One holds 5 gallons, and one holds 3 gallons. Two customers have ordered 4 gallons each. They will bring their own containers which hold more than 4 gallons. Can you measure out 4 gallons using your 5, and 3 gallon pots? |

Fill the 5 gallon jug with milk. Fill the 3 gallon jug from the 5. You are now left with 2 gallons of milk in the 5. Empty the 3 gallon jug. Now,pour the 2 gallons you have in the five gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug there is now one gallon left to be filled in the 3 gallon jug. Now, refill the 5 gallon jug. Pour the 5 gallon jug until the 3 gallon jug is now topped off (will take 1 gallon). You now have 4 gallons of milk left in the 5 gallon jug for your customer
