What it is

KnowledgeWorker is an idle game dressed as a late-nineties office desktop, teal wallpaper and gray beveled windows included. It calls itself the ultimate corporate productivity simulator, and it is: requests pop up in little windows, you click to process them, points arrive, and you spend the points on automations that do the clicking for you. The ranks start at junior developer. Where they end is for you to find out.

How to play

Press start working. Handle the incoming requests by clicking the buttons in each window, watch the productivity monitor count your points and approvals, and open the IT budget window to buy upgrades: a script that posts your daily standup for you, an auto-responder for ticket comments, something that accepts every meeting invite, and on up the ladder. Each purchase removes one kind of busywork from your day, which frees you to buy the next one. There is a sound toggle in the taskbar and a clock, because there is always a clock.

What makes it different

Most idle games abstract the grind into cookies or gold. This one keeps it painfully specific: phishing simulations, policy acknowledgments, backlog grooming, mandatory trainings. Anyone who has worked in an office will recognize every request, and the upgrade list reads like a wish list from a very tired engineer. The joke is that the game plays itself more and more, exactly like the job it describes.

Why it is on Bored

Lazy idle clickers is for watching numbers grow, and this one grows a career. It is the funniest thing here to have open at your actual desk, and it plays perfectly well in a window the size of a spreadsheet.
