How to play Look busy kit

Look busy kit is a fake work screen that runs by itself. Pick a scene from the menu and it fills up with work that looks real from across the room: a spreadsheet that types formulas and recalculates its totals, a dashboard whose charts creep upward while the refresh stamp ticks along, a terminal running a build that is always nearly done, a code review that scrolls and collects approvals, a file sync that keeps finding more files, and a video call full of muted drawn colleagues with the recording dot on. Every scene keeps moving on its own, so it never looks frozen. Press any key or tap the screen to add something plausible to the current scene, like a cell edit, a shell command, a review comment or a chat message, which is handy when someone is watching. When someone walks past, press Esc or the Panic button and the screen swaps to the dullest scene of all, a plain document about the stationery reorder process with a blinking cursor. Press Esc again to get back to work. The icons on the left and the Scenes button switch between scenes, Fullscreen hides the rest of the page, a small clock sits in the corner and fake notifications pop up now and then. There is no score. The header keeps a busy timer instead, and Clock out ends your shift with a line you can share, such as "Looked busy for 47 minutes". Your longest shift is saved on your device.

Tips

About Look busy kit

Computer games in the 1980s and 1990s often had a boss key: one keypress that hid the game behind something that looked like work. Look busy kit turns that idea inside out. The work screen is the whole toy, and the key you press hides it behind something even more boring. Every scene is drawn by the game itself from plain shapes, text and colours, with no screenshots, logos or real software behind it. The company is invented too. Periwinkle Parcel Co. runs depots called Eastgate, Harbour office and Tanner's Yard, its staff have made-up names, and every number, filename, commit message and line of code on screen was written for this game. Behind each scene is a small simulation with its own rhythm. The spreadsheet evaluates its own sums and averages, so a changed cell really does ripple into the totals. The build log moves through its stages, crawls at 99 percent and then finds more modules to compile. The code review reveals an invented diff a few lines at a time while reviewers comment and approve. The file sync tracks a transfer rate and keeps discovering folders it forgot about. The call rotates between speakers and types out their captions, and the document is typed at a human pace, complete with pauses and the odd corrected typo. Everything runs in your browser, nothing is sent anywhere, and the only thing saved is your longest shift.
