What it is

Deadshot.io is a multiplayer first-person shooter that runs in the browser and starts in seconds. Pick a weapon, drop into a lobby full of other players, and shoot until the round ends. The menu shows how many people are online right now, several hundred at the time, so there is usually a match to join. It is the kind of shooter that used to need a download, a launcher and an evening, done as a tab.

How to play

Press play and you are queued into a public match. Move with the keyboard, aim and fire with the mouse. The private option makes a lobby you can share with friends, and the queue button lines you up for the next round. Tabs across the top cover settings, a shop, a locker and a leaderboard. Daily and weekly challenges are there too, but you need to sign in with a Google account to see them. Playing itself needs no account.

What makes it different

The speed of getting in. There is nothing to install, and the update log on the menu shows the game is still growing, with new weapons arriving. It is built to be a lunch-break game, which is not something most shooters can say.
