Infinite Craft

Start with four elements and end up creating 'Shrek' through the power of questionable logic.

What it is

Infinite Craft is a crafting game with four starting elements, Water, Fire, Wind and Earth, and no end. Drag two onto each other and a new thing appears: Water and Fire make Steam. Combine that with something else and keep going. The site describes it as a game where you can make anything, and pretty much endless. Every result is a pill with an emoji that goes into your sidebar, ready to be combined again.

How to play

The page is a white canvas with a sidebar of items on the right. Drag an item onto the canvas, drag another on top of it, and watch them merge. New items join the list as you make them. A search box finds items once the list gets long, and you can sort by discoveries or by time. There is a daily challenge card at the top asking everyone to craft the same target, with a counter of how many people have managed it. Corner icons toggle dark mode and sound, reset the canvas, and share.

What makes it different

There is no recipe book. The sidebar grows as fast as you drag, and you can chase the daily target or wander. A Discoveries sort button and the challenge's completion counter turn a sandbox into a quiet race. Your items persist in the browser, so the list you left yesterday is still there today, Plant and Smoke and all.

Why it is on Bored

Mix two things to get a third, then mix the third with everything, and that is the entire game. There is no recipe book, no score, no timer and no wrong answer, only the next combination and a sidebar that grows as fast as you drag. You open it for a minute and close it with forty new items, and the daily challenge gives the wandering a target when it needs one.

Tips

  • Start by combining each new item with the four basics
  • Drag a result onto another result, you never have to return to the basics
  • Use the search box once you have more than thirty items
  • Try the daily challenge for a target when wandering gets aimless
  • Your list is saved in this browser, so come back to it
