How to play Fresh peel

Every box holds something brand new, covered in protective film with one corner already lifted. Press that corner and drag. The film curls back behind your finger and the clean surface underneath gleams as it appears. Pull steadily toward the far corner and the sheet comes off in one piece. Pull too fast, jerk around or drag off at a sharp angle and it tears along the fold, leaving a scrap with a new corner for you to pick at. The fold line glows red just before the film gives way, so you can feel it out without sound. Later boxes add bigger sheets, round and curved shapes, cut-outs around buttons and cameras, double layers that come off top first and stickers. Stickers that say remove before use or peel me have to go, but the serial label stays, and peeling it costs points. Each object is scored out of 100 for coming off in one piece and for a smooth pull. Daily five gives everyone the same five boxes for a total out of 500, and everything you peel lands on your shelf, where you can tap it to peel it again.

Tips

About Fresh peel

Peeling the film off a new phone is one of the small joys of buying anything, and plenty of people save it for last. Fresh peel turns that moment into a toy you can repeat thirty times. Each sheet is a real shape with a fold that moves with your finger, so the angle you pull at decides how the sheet comes away and where it gives up. Speed, angle and sudden turns all build strain, and once it runs out the film tears straight along the fold. The thirty objects are invented household things drawn in a flat style for this game: phones, tablets, a kitchen scale, a games console, microwave doors, sunglasses, a stainless steel fridge, a car dashboard and more, with no brands, logos or real product designs. The order climbs from simple screens to shower screens, ski goggles and a phone with two films and two stickers. A quiet crackle follows the fold and a chime marks the end of a sheet, and every part of the game also works with the sound off.
