How to play Haiku emergency

Each round presents a fantasy emergency: a dragon charging tolls on the bridge, a troll blocking the library, a banshee ruining choir practice. The dispatch asks for one specific effect, like calm it, insult it, put it to sleep or distract it. Four haikus appear and each one carries a different effect. Pick the haiku that does what the emergency needs. After your pick, every haiku reveals its true effect and a short note explains how the crisis played out. Ten emergencies per run, with score, streak and a poet rank.

About Haiku emergency

Haiku is a seventeen syllable Japanese poem, five, seven, five, usually about nature and quiet moments. Haiku emergency respectfully asks: what if it was also the emergency services? In this game every crisis has a poetic solution. A furious goose needs calming verse. A smug mermaid responds only to a well-crafted insult. A clay golem powers down for a proper lullaby. Your job is to read the room, or the bridge, or the haunted kitchen, and deploy the one haiku with the requested effect. The wrong poem has consequences, mostly funny ones. It is a word game about tone, mood and reading between very short lines.
