How to play Patches

Patches is a daily two flower grid puzzle. Every square must be filled with a red flower or a yellow flower. Tap a square to cycle it from empty to a red flower, to a yellow flower, and back to empty. Some squares start locked as clues. Two rules guide you: each row and each column must hold exactly three red flowers and three yellow flowers, so you can sew at most three of one color per line, and you can never have three of the same flower in a row, across or down. When the whole grid follows both rules, you win. The board outlines mistakes in red so you can spot where a rule breaks. A new grid appears every day.

Tips

• Fill in forced squares first, any spot that would make three in a row must be the other flower
• When a row already has three of one flower, the rest must be the other color
• Work the rows and columns together, a placement in one often unlocks the other
• If two squares are boxed in by the no-three rule, the square between them is decided
