What it is

Giphy is a very large pile of looping GIFs with a search bar on top. Under the bar sit a row of trending searches and a grid of looping tiles sorted into GIFs, Stickers and Clips. Type a feeling and get a hundred ways to say it. The site's own line is that it is the platform that animates your world, which is marketing for a search box full of reaction loops.

How to play

Type anything into the search bar: monday morning, eye roll, happy sunday. The results page shows a masonry grid of looping tiles, related-search chips above it, tabs to switch between GIFs, Stickers and Clips, and sort and filter controls. Each tile carries a long list of hashtags, and clicking one opens it on its own page. The homepage's Trending Now feed is the same grid with whatever the internet is reacting to this week. Reactions and Categories in the top nav are the browse-without-typing routes.

What makes it different

The volume. One search for monday morning filled the first screen with about fifty tiles, and the trending row on a Sunday mixed a festival, a basketball player, a Sunday greeting and an eye roll. Stickers and Clips have their own tabs, and Clips carry audio by design. It is a search engine where every result is a punchline, and the related chips keep handing you the next search.

Why it is on Bored

The quickest way to kill a coffee break with your thumb. Type a feeling and a hundred looping ways to say it fill the screen, with related chips handing you the next search before you have finished with this one, and you leave with something to paste into a chat. Open the trending feed when you have no search in mind.
