Temple Run 2

Sprint, slide, turn, and jump to stay ahead of a massive, vengeful monkey demon in this iconic browser endless runner.

What it is

Temple Run 2 is the endless runner with the monkey: you have grabbed a golden idol from a temple and a giant monkey wants it back. You run along cliff paths, mine tracks and zip lines, jumping gaps, sliding under fallen trees and turning at corners that come up fast. This is the browser version, hosted on Poki, of the mobile runner.

How to play

Your character runs on their own. Up arrow jumps, Down slides, Left and Right turn at corners and change lanes, and the WASD keys do the same. On a phone it is swipes in the four directions. Coins line the path. The first five hundred meters are slow, then the pace rises, and by two thousand meters a small delay ends the run. Three power-ups help: a coin magnet, a shield that blocks one hit but not a fall, and a boost.

What makes it different

Where the subway runner is about lane switching, this one is about reading the path: fire traps to jump, gates to slide under, sharp turns to take, broken paths to leap. Zip lines, mine carts and rivers break up the running. The browser version runs the original map, Sky Summit, and four themed maps sit on the same portal as separate games if you want a frozen or a jungle version.

Why it is on Bored

It needs no download and it is the better runner for a short break: the early stretch is gentle, and a bad run is over in a minute. The name does the rest. Expect a short video ad first and an optional account for saved progress.

Tips

  • Slide, do not jump, at low gates and fallen trees
  • Turn at the corner, not before it, sharp turns come up fast
  • Spend early coins on the shield, one saved crash beats a longer magnet
  • Daily and weekly challenges are the fastest way to more coins
