How to play Acorn rain

Acorn rain is a Canvas2D arcade defender. Three jelly catapults sit at the base of an autumn forest, with six mushroom houses spread along the ground between them. Aim with the mouse on desktop, drag a finger on mobile, and click or tap anywhere in the sky to fire a jelly bomb from the catapult closest to your shot. The bomb arcs up and detonates in a sticky bloom that pops any acorn it touches. Acorns rain down from the top of the screen in waves, each on its own trajectory toward a mushroom or catapult. From wave three onward, pulsing red splitter acorns break into three smaller acorns mid air, so detonate them before they break. An acorn caught inside a bloom pops into its own small bloom, so a well placed shot can chain through a whole cluster. Each catapult holds twelve bombs per wave and ammo refills between waves, but lost catapults stay gone. The signature twist is a bloom meter that fills with every pop. When the meter is ready, press B or right click to release a giant pollen burst that pops every acorn on screen at once. The game ends when every mushroom is destroyed. Your score climbs with intercepts, chain combos, splitter pops and end-of-wave bonuses for every surviving house and catapult.

About Acorn rain

Acorn rain is our friendly riff on Atari's 1980 classic Missile Command, swapped out for a warm forest theme instead of nuclear war. We kept the core idea, defend a row of targets from arcing projectiles by detonating counter shots into a blast circle, then made everything else lighter. Catapults instead of missile batteries, jelly bombs instead of nukes, mushroom houses instead of cities, falling acorns instead of ICBMs. The bloom meter and chain combos are our own additions to give the game a build-up moment that the original never had. Built entirely with HTML Canvas2D and a fixed-step physics loop, no external sprites, every visual is drawn in code.
