How to play Hero of Mediocria

You are Lex, a bored teen sucked into a fantasy realm by a sketchy link on his computer. Walk around with WASD or the arrow keys, attack with space or the red button, and explore room by room. Open the chest in the first clearing to grab the Sword of Adequate Sharpness, then carve through monsters one screen at a time. Find the dungeon entrance for the boss key, unlock the door to the Dark Lord and reset the WiFi router so you can finally go home.

Tips

• Walk into a screen edge to slide into the next room
• Knights wind up before lunging, dodge sideways and hit them in the back
• Bats fly over walls but die in one swing, time your attack
• Crabs only charge when you stand on their row, approach diagonally
• Skeletons drift slowly but spit homing bolts, attack between volleys
• The Dark Lord is a winged dragon that teleports, predict where it lands
• Cleared rooms stay cleared, retreat for breathing room when low on hearts
• Hold the red button on mobile to swing the sword repeatedly

About Hero of Mediocria

Hero of Mediocria is a chunky top-down pixel-art action adventure built around screen-by-screen rooms, a heart-bar HP and a hero who absolutely does not want to be there. Lex would rather be home watching a series, and the Dark Lord is mostly an obstacle between him and his router. The whole world fits on one screen at a time, every room is a tiny puzzle of enemies and corners, and the dungeon hides the key you need for the final room. Most sprites come from the CC0 Ninja Adventure asset pack by Pixel-boy; the Dark Lord dragon is a CC0 NES-style dragon by Chasersgaming.
