How to play Turf rush

You start with a small square of territory and so do five bot rivals. Steer out of your patch and your runner leaves a tail behind. Loop back into your own color and everything inside the loop becomes yours. The catch is that your tail is completely exposed while you are out: any rival who drives across it ends your run on the spot, and crossing your own tail is just as fatal. It cuts both ways, though. Clip a bot's tail and they are gone, territory and all. Steer by dragging on the screen or with the arrow keys or WASD. Paint half the arena to win, and if you go down early, your peak percentage still counts as your score.

Tips

• Take lots of small bites early, one greedy mega-loop is how most runs end
• Check where the hunters are before you leave home, Blaze and Spike attack tails on sight
• Claim along the arena edge, the wall covers one whole side of your loop
• A well-timed tail cut deletes a rival's entire territory, which is often worth more than land

About Turf rush

Turf rush is our take on the territory-grabbing arena games that ate everyone's phone battery a few years back. The rules fit in one sentence, leave home, draw a loop, get back alive, but the tension never wears off because every extra cell you circle stretches your unprotected tail a little further. The five bots each play their own way: the aggressive ones patrol for tails to cut, the greedy ones paint huge reckless loops, and the cowardly one darts out for tiny nibbles and sprints home. Reading who is nearby and how they behave matters more than raw reflexes. Runs are quick, defeats are sudden and slightly unfair-feeling in the way that makes you queue up the next round immediately.
