Road Trip

Click the sky and cars rain down onto a field. That is it. That is the whole road trip.

What it is

Road Trip is the view out of a passenger window: cream door frame, wing mirror, a slice of steering wheel, and beyond the glass a flat scrubby plain under a pale sky with a mesa on the horizon, all of it sliding past as if the car were doing sixty. A line of text floats in the sky: click and drag (or type) to drop some cars. You do that, and small toy cars tumble out of the sky and land in the field.

How to play

Click in the sky and a car falls, slowly, turning over as it goes, until it hits the ground and sits there. Drag across the sky and you get a row of them. Type a few letters and other things fall too, in our check a cow turned up in the field after a short burst of typing. Whatever lands stays put and drifts left with the scenery until it slips behind the door frame and is gone. There is nothing else: no buttons, no counter, no sound.

What makes it different

Most click-to-spawn toys sit on a blank canvas. This one puts you in a specific place with a specific mood, the long boring middle of a drive through nowhere, and lets you populate it. The slow fall is the whole feel: a car falls slowly enough to watch, and the landed cars sliding out of view behind the door frame is quietly funny every time. It belongs to a family of screen toys from the same hub, linked in the footer.

Why it is on Bored

Pointless fun is for things that are useless and hard to stop, and this is the gentle end of that scale. Nothing is scored, you are just making it rain toy cars on a desert, and for two minutes that is enough.

Tips

  • Drag a long line across the sky and watch the row come down
  • Type a few keys to see what else falls
  • Drop a car low, near the ground, for a quick landing
  • Leave it running in a corner, the landscape keeps moving

FAQ

Is Road Trip free?

Yes. There is nothing to buy, no ad, no account and no consent dialog, just a web font and a traffic counter loading from outside the site.

Does it work on a phone?

It should. The page has a phone viewport, and clicking and dragging would be taps and swipes there.

Does it save?

No. Reload and the field is empty again.

Does it have sound?

No. It is silent, which suits a long drive.

Does it end?

No. The road goes on and the cars keep coming for as long as you drop them.
