A different Wikipedia page for every browser size, 7.2 million combos and counting. Drag the window edge and watch the encyclopedia scroll past like a slot machine.

What it is

Widthipedia gives you a different encyclopedia article for every size of browser window. The header shows your window's width and height, and under it sits a real article from the free encyclopedia chosen by that exact combination. Drag the window edge a few pixels and the article changes. Drag it back and the old one returns.

How to play

Open it on a desktop and resize the window, slowly. Every width-times-height pair maps to its own page, so a one-pixel change is a new article: a headland in New Zealand, then something else entirely. Read the one you land on, or keep dragging until something catches your eye. The embedded article is the real thing with working links, so a stray click can send you down the actual encyclopedia. The header readout tells you where you are.

What makes it different

It turns the least interesting thing about your browser into a random-article button with a dial. There are millions of size combinations, and the fun is in the tiny movements: a nudge of the mouse and you are on a different subject. It is also a small joke at the expense of responsive design, which normally works hard to make resizing invisible, and here resizing is the only thing that matters.

Why it is on Bored

A page that changes its subject when you change its shape is useless in a way we admire, and it is one of many toys from the same British workshop, whose hub is on Bored as its own link. No ads, no consent dialog, no account.

Tips

  • Resize by dragging a corner, one pixel at a time, rather than maximizing
  • Note the size in the header if you find an article you want back
  • Click nothing inside the article unless you mean to leave
  • Try a very tall, very thin window

FAQ

Is Widthipedia free?

Yes. It is free in the browser with no account, no ads and no cookie banner.

Does it work on a phone?

Only just. Without a window to resize you get a single article, so it is a desktop toy.

Does it save?

No. The article depends only on your window size, so the same size gives the same page.

Does it end?

No. There are as many articles as there are window sizes.
