2048 is a classic for a reason. You slide numbered tiles around a grid trying to combine them until you hit 2048. Sounds easy, right? Give it five minutes and you'll see why people get obsessed. Then there's Little Alchemy 2, which is a totally different vibe. You start with basic elements like water, fire, earth, and air, then combine them to discover hundreds of new items. It's weirdly satisfying when you figure out a combo nobody told you about.

Multiplayer games you can play with friends

Some of the best free online games are the ones you play with other people. Browser multiplayer games have come a long way, and you don't need a gaming PC to enjoy them.

Slither.io is basically the Snake game you played on old Nokia phones, but online with hundreds of other players. You grow your snake by eating glowing dots and try not to crash into anyone else. It's simple, it's chaotic, and it's a blast. Skribbl.io is perfect if you've got a group of friends online. One person draws, everyone else guesses.
